Symbolic Gift Of Charity

Water is Life!
We couldn't get out of the way. The elderly man in the other car didn't look before changing lanes. He swerved into our lane too fast, and the old interstate had no shoulder.
We hit the sand of the median at and rolled. Once. Twice. Three times. Almost before the car came to rest on it's wheels, people came running from everywhere.
My sister was screaming and my arm had gone through the side window, so there was blood everywhere.
I got out of the car, and a man helped me sit down on the back tire that had broken off the car. He wrapped my arm in a towel to stop the bleeding while others helped my sister.
Later, we learned that the car was so badly mangled that the state patrolman who wrote up the accident thought our car was a 2-door, when it was a 4-door. Yet we both were able to get out of the car on our own.
I believe that there are two reasons for this. One, we were wearing our seat belts. And two, God was looking out for us.
Because of our strong belief that we were protected for some reason, because so many people stopped to help us, and in spite of the fact that the man who caused the accident stopped briefly but left and was never identified, we felt the need to give something back.
So, when we got the insurance settlement, at my sister's suggestion, our family gave a symbolic gift of charity.
We helped drill a fresh water well for a village in India. Water is life, and we were given a new chance at life that day.
