Short Term Help Long Term Hope For Single Mother

Me with my 4 children

I am a sign language interpreter and work as a VRS (video relay interpreter) for the past 7 years. Before that I worked as an interpreter for the Los Angeles Superior Court system for 10 years.

Set-Back Event
August 30, 2009 I was injured at work via direct exposure to toxic fumes. Workers Compensation placed a 90 day review leaving me with no income whatsoever.

Many life changes have occurred since then, such as, I moved from a home to an apartment. It is a 2 bedroom and I sleep in the living room and my children (boy/girl) have rooms.

During this time my car lease ended and I no longer have a vehicle. I am very fortunate that my recovery is at a point my doctor will be releasing me to return to work soon, but I cannot do so without transportation.

This isn’t my first time “starting over”. Ten years ago I left a volatile marriage. I removed myself and four children ages 11, 9, 3, and 6 months, at that time, from the situation and started over. I was successful!

My now 22 year old son is a senior at UCLA and my 20 year old son is in the Coast Guard. Now it’s me, my 13 year old daughter and 10 year old son. I am, once again, starting over.

The main obstacle I face at this time is the lack of a vehicle. I feel like I am deep in the mud with one hand reaching out for help, not to only stand up, but walk ....and soon run!

I feel that I am asking for so much. I also know that I will, some day, give back the same “so much”!

Thank you!

Tammy,

Welcome to the power-of-giving.com. The picture of you and your family is lovely. Be sure to share this page. It helps to get the donation ball rolling. Soemtimes they come fast, sometimes it is a very slow process.

While you are waiting you may want to visit this Peer to Peer lending site. They are everyday people who offer personal loans for people in your exact position.

You seem like a very strong woman to me. I have something I would like to share with you...

THE OPTIMIST CREED

Promises to Yourself By Christian D. Larsen (originally published in 1912)

Promise yourself….
To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind;

To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet;

To make all your friends feel that there is something in them;

To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true;

To think only the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best;

To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own;

To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future;

To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile;

To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others;

To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear; and too happy to permit the presence of trouble;

To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud words, but in great deeds;

To live in the faith that the whole world is on your side so long as you are true to the best that is in you.

Hope you, and others, enjoyed that. Hang in there and hopefully our kind readers will respond to your note.
