Random Acts of Kindness to the Power of 1000 or So

by Walt Waggon

I hope you enjoy this random acts of kindness to the power of 1000 or so story. I know we have enjoyed it a great deal.

I grew up in the small little town, and went to a school where we all knew one another. One of my best friends, Gary, had a disabled little sister, Bella. And, although she had a more difficult road ahead of her growing up, we all love and adored her.

Gary and I grew to adults, married and had families of our own. His sister lived with Gary's parents until they eventually passed away.

Not being able to take care of herself, Gary with great love for his sister, insisted that she live with him and his family.

Now caring for Bella was not the problem. The problem was the house Gary and his family lived in was old, very old.

Old houses can can become a burden too much too bare as expenses begin to take their toll.

The house was never warm enough. Bella was always cold. The wiring in the house was shot and needed updating. Updating that cost money. Money my poor friend did not have. Good intentions and a kind heart do not always pay the bills.

The fire hazards and code issues were becoming too great to be ignored and Gary, his family and his house starting drawing attention from town officials.

Now, if you have ever worked with the rule makers of small towns this could have been the bad turning point of this story. Quite the contrary however.

As I mentioned, everyone loved and adored Bella. How could you not, she had the heart of a champion. Do you know what the people of that glorious small town did?

They put their own troubles, responsibilities and worries aside. They teamed up, worked together, volunteered, donated materials, time and resources and they built my friend a home.

Not just any home. A beautiful home with proper heating and wiring. A house with easier accessability for Bella. A place built with love for a very lovely family.

So when I say random acts of kindness to the power of 1000 or so, I really mean random acts of kindness to the power of infinity.

So true

Very interesting site. It is more blessed to give than receive. That is what this world is about, helping those less fortunate than ourselves. I think many times we take so much forgranted. Looking at what we don't have. There are so many that do not have. Just a smile or being kind to someone can mean so much. We never know what another might be going through.

A town full of love

What a wonderful story! I got goose bumps reading it. It gave me the same feeling as the movie "A Wonderful Life" did. God bless you all for giving of your time to see this be accomplished for another man with a huge heart. Pay if forward! Thanks for sharing.
