Our Good Samaritan
by Barbara
Our Good Samaritan This would normally have been just an inconvenience, as we would have to get the car fixed the following morning and get home a day late, but it was a much bigger problem, because I could not be away from home overnight as my husband was undergoing cancer treatments and was very weak, and needed help getting his medications and getting in and out of bed. As our car rolled to a steamy stop at the side of the road, I didn't know what I was going to do, or how I was going to get everybody back home to London. Within 30 seconds of stopping, a young man stopped his car to see if we were all okay - he took me to his home to use his phone so that I could get a friend to take care of my husband, I also called my husband to reassure him that I was okay and would be home the following day. He called a garage to arrange for me to leave my car there, and also a motel where he arranged rooms for us for the night. He then followed me to the local garage (which was closed), took me and my family to a nearby Motel where he had found accommodation for us, for the night. Within an hour of my car breaking down, this young man had taken care of all our needs - I had phoned home, arrangements had been made for someone to stay with my sick husband, my car was at the garage waiting to be repaired and we had beds for the night. What an Angel! Unfortunately, in all the worry and anxiety I didn't get this young man's name, nor do I remember where he lived. This all happened in 1991 and I have often thought of this Good Samaritan and silently given a prayer of thanks for him - he truly was a Guardian Angel when I dearly needed one!
