I gave a couple the chance to become parents for the first time

by Elicia
(Beeville, Texas, USA)

I was going to find parents that could raise my son.

I was going to find parents that could raise my son.

My giving story happened almost 10 years. At the young age of 17 and a senior in high school I became pregnant.

I was one of the ones that thought it would never happen to me. I knew that I had to finish high school and go on and hopefully go on to college.

This was going to be very difficult being a teenage mother. I told my parents and they told me of my options.

I researched everything and stumbled upon open adoption and decided this was the route that I was going to take. I was going to find parents that could raise my son and that were ready to become parents and I would receive in return updates and knowing how my child was growing up.

I contacted an adoption agency in San Antonio Texas and found parents for my son. It was a Christian couple in North Carolina looking to become parents through adoption for the first time.

When my birthson was 2 days old I signed my relinquishment papers and placed him in the arms of his new parents. I am thankful that I made this decision. I gave a couple the chance to become parents for the first time and gave my son the opportunity to grow up and one day become a man with values in moral.

I have a great open relationship with the adoptive parents and get reminded everyday of the wonderful life that I have provided my son.

They did just come to Texas almost a month ago and I am still glad that I made this decision almost 10 years down the road.

Elicia,

Thank you for sharing your giving story. What a beautiful thing you did. I know at times it was hard but it's so great that it is an open adoption. I bet your glad you made that decision.

Good Wishes to you and your son always.
