Giving Made Us Feel Good

The week before Christmas I received a phone call regarding a lady who had two teenage sons and was recently diagnosed with kidney cancer.

I was asked by a friend of hers to go see her even though I had never been involved with the family.

I work with younger children, but during a break between visits I just decided to go by her home and talk with her.

I sat and listened to her talk about her previous job she had as a cashier in a short stop store. She had been out of work for a few months and was worried about providing Christmas for her two teenage sons.

She also wanted information on how to get assistance with her medical bills and medication.

After providing her with the information she needed I ended my visit with her.

All her son's wanted was hooded sweatshirts and bikes. I thought only briefly about how to help this family.

I called my son and husband letting them know my plans to make this Christmas special for this family.

We purchased the sweatshirts and got help with the bikes they wanted. We got them some gift cards to use for what they wanted. This made me and my family feel so good to be able to bless a family the way we have been blessed. I wouldn't have done anything different than what we did for this family.
