Even In A Down Economy The Power Exists

The power of giving website was a thriving hub of people giving to help people in need. Interaction between it's guests was thriving. Tears were shed. Problems were solved. Friends were made. In the last two years or so though the hub has slowed to a near dead stand still. These are interesting times.

Funny thing is though, the Power of Giving does not take a vacation in a turned economy. Quite the contrary. The power always exists.

I know it is hard to get motivated or to truly believe in anything when the bills are piling up, you are possibly fighting more with your spouse of significant other, the needs of children are adding to the financial burden. The tunnel keeps looking darker and deeper; the light further. This is when you truly MUST believe.

If you give of yourself sincerely, give with your heart, the glorious wonders will unfold to you. There is a famous Japanese proverb that I am fond of... "Fall seven times, stand up eight." It's so simple, stand up eight. Stay strong, be true to yourself and give with your heart.

Where ever you turn, you will always find a person who needs you. It's inevitable. No one is saying you have to give more than you have to give. Sydney Smith said, it is the greatest of all mistakes to do nothing because you can only do little - do what you can. I support that wholeheartedly.

When I go to the local Dollar Store near my home, they ask me if I'd like to donate a food item. Without hesitation, I always say yes. Why? Because it only cost me a dollar and I just helped a family eat. One dollar for that wonderful light feeling I get when I give PLUS I contributed in providing food to someone in need.

The amazing thing that happens whenever I give, and I really wish I would have kept some kind of a chart along the years to document ever instants, is that I always receive in return.

Maybe it will come in the form of my sister sending me a $50 gift card for my birthday or maybe someone pays me back the $20 I lent them. Sometimes you may not even contribute it to the power of giving BUT if you pay attention you may just see a great and wonderful pattern.

In closing, I'd like to share this with you:

A flame that flickers and lights the way
For those who choose to give another day
It sheds the light for all to see
What does exist and what shall be
Now the light it starts to grow
Where it's going, you'll always know
You gave with your heart and now you'll find
The light it grew because you were kind.
