First Published Book On Law Of Attraction

by Amanda
(United States)

I know there are many books out there that are written about or reference the law of attraction but what was the first known book that relates to the universal laws of attraction?

ANSWER

WOW! Amanda, that is an excellent question! Based on the knowledge I have, and please anyone feel free to correct me if I am wrong, Wallace D. Wattles book "The Science Of Getting Rich" published in 1910 pre-dates Napoleon Hill's "Think and Grow Rich" by eighteen years.

However, Hill's first interview of Andrew Carnegie for a series of articles on successful men predates Wattle's book by two years.

Wattles shows us that there is a better, more creative way to succeed at getting rich. As he explains: "You are to become a creator, not a competitor. You are going to get what you want, but in such a way that when you get it every other person whom you affect will have more than he has now."

The first book that actually mentions the "Law of Attraction" specifically and by name was "Thought Vibration or the Law of Attraction in the Thought World" by William Atkinson published in 1906.

Atkinson states this matter of Thought Attraction is a serious one. When you stop to think of it you will see that a man really makes his Own surroundings, although he blames others for it. I have known people who understood this law to hold a positive, calm thought and be absolutely unaffected by the inharmony surrounding them. They were like the vessel from which the oil had been poured on the troubled waters-they rested safely and calmly whilst the tempest raged around them. One is not at the mercy of the fitful storms of Thought after he has learned the workings of the Law.

Although the term 'Law of Attraction' was never mentioned in this book at all, the first published book containing law of attraction teachings was "Think And Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill.

It's the best selling self-help book of all time.

There are 13 principles that are important to Hill's formula for success. Among these are the importance of overcoming common fears, developing a burning desire to achieve your dream, persistence in your efforts, the importance of autosuggestion and visualization, and others.

As you can see, the laws of attraction are not mentioned by that name but the concepts are similarly striking.

Many books and writings have alluded to the law of attraction but until the 20th century and the New Thought movement this particular phrase was not used commonly.

Right now there many new authors that write about it like Jack Canfield, author of "Chicken Soup for the Soul" books. He has his own book about the law of attraction. Others who have utilized it are Bob Proctor, Micheal Losier and Tony Robbins.

I can go on and on about the writings of the law of attraction (I kinda just did)however, I'll end it here for now. Feel free to add additional writings to this post.
