Donate Household Items to CharityCharity Furniture Donations and Many Other Household ItemsThere are many places to
donate household items to charity. I receive many emails here through
this power of giving website generously telling me they have household
items to give and many with charity furniture donations.
While I am not equiped to accept these generous donations of furniture and other household items and get them distributed to people in need, I do know of several places to donate household items to charity or just general people who need them. Craigslist is one of my very favorite resources. I have personally used craigslist many many times. They offer a huge resource for connecting people locally with either free items or household items at very reasonable prices. There is no charge to use this service. People post furniture donations, household items for donation and really, most anything else you can think of. Basically, just go to their sight and list what you have. The sight is broken up by state and town. Someone locally contacts you, if they need the item, and then they come pick the donated item up or if other arrangments are made, you bring the item to them. This is also an excellent resource for people looking to acquire a household item or charity furniture donation for low or no cost. If you are in need of something, look there. I received an email from a woman looking for bunk beds for her two children who were then sleeping on the floor. I receive many emails like this. I jumped on the site, pulled up her state and closest town and, believe it or not, someone had just posted a set of bunk beds. One of my other favorite resources to donate household items to charity is freecycle. You join this website and if you have something to give, you post it. Other members of the local group contact you if it is something they desparetly need and you arrange to make the exchange. Really, these two websites can not make it any easier. The great thing is in most cases you do not have to transport any of the donated items, you get to help someone and you get to get rid of the item. Win-win-win. There are many other places to donate household items to charity, salvation army, goodwill, etc. You can find a more complete list here. These are just two of my favorites. Whether you are giving or need to receive, use these resources. They are excellent. |
