Charity Furniture DonationsFurniture Donations and Charity
Looking to help someone in need? Charity
furniture donations are a great place to start. You get to
take something off your hands that you don’t need anymore AND help
someone in need at the same time. It’s a win-win.Furniture donations are especially generous for low income families who are up against making difficult decisions every day. How do you choose between buying food, medicine, clothes for your children, or necessary school supplies? The choices can be overwhelming. Good thing there are people like you to assist. Your furniture donation will be such a blessing. I knew a woman once. A single mother with two beautiful boys. The boys slept on a mattress on the floor. Can you imagine being in such a hardship place in your life that your own beautiful children go without beds? It happens and is happening.
Plus, think of this… not only are you making a difference in someone’s life but by turning your discarded furniture into donation furniture you help the planet by recycling instead of throwing away. Yeah Baby! Furniture Donations and Charities
What can you do with your furniture donations? There are many organizations out there willing to help make it easy to give. Some will actually come to your home and pick up the charity furniture donations while others will request you drop it off. There are
some resources listed here that will hopefully make it easy for you to
decide what to do with your charitable donation furniture.
The Salvation Army - Your used furniture, clothing, and other household items will enable you to make a tax-deductible contribution. The sale of each donated item through The Salvation Army's thrift stores goes to support their addiction recovery programs known as Adult Rehabilitation Centers. To schedule a pick up of charity furniture donations to be donated please call: 1-800-SA-TRUCK You can also drop off your donation at one of their many drop off centers. Help1Up - Please donate used furniture to a furniture bank near you. A furniture bank is a non-profit organization that collects gently used home furnishings from the general public, then donates them to families in need, such as mothers and children escaping domestic violence, victims of natural disasters like hurricanes and fires, and working families living below the poverty line. Goodwill – The charity furniture donations are sold in over 2,100 Goodwill retail stores and on our Internet auction site. The revenues fund job training and other services to prepare people for job success. Freecycle - If you haven’t used Freecycle yet you’re missing out. "Our mission is to build a worldwide gifting movement that reduces waste, saves precious resources & eases the burden on our landfills while enabling our members to benefit from the strength of a larger community." The Freecycle Network is made up of 4,233 groups with 4,444,000 members across the globe. It's a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving and getting stuff for free in their own towns. It's all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills. Each local group is moderated by a local volunteer. Membership is free. Craigslist is also a good resource. Craigslist is a local classifieds and forums for 450 cities worldwide - community moderated, and largely free. You can find anything from jobs, housing, goods, services, romance, local activities, advice - just about anything and you will find people in need to donate your goods to. |
