There are 155 children in a community school in Managua, Nicaragua who I am determined to find the resources needed for them to study for the 2010 school year.
It is the only school in this neighborhood in Managua. $28,000 is need to run the school. This pays 9 teachers and aids. The families who can pay $3.00 a month and this helps pay for a night vigilante and for the utilities.
The children are from pre-school to 6th grade. The love and commitment of the teachers and the energy and creativity of the children calls to the heart of all of us.
I am a Franciscan Sister and I lived in this neighborhood for 7 years. The commitment of the local people inspires me to do all I can to help keep the school open.
If you are someone who'd love to visit the school personally, you'd be welcomed with hugs and tugs as you move through the classroom.
If you love children and believe in the invaluable gift of education, please help me raise the $28,000 for this school.
